Student Initiative for Africa, an organization formed to contribute practical answers to two of Africa’s largest health hazards, would like to invite you to help African children directly through your donation. Student Initiative for Africa was founded by Kelly Grant and Kellie Bryant after reading the article "Water for the World" in the June 18th 2007 issue of Newsweek. The article titled "A $3 gadget that promises to quench a user’s thirst for a year without spare parts, electricity or maintenance", which immediately caught their interest. The article focused on LifeStraw and the manufacturing company Vestergaard Frandsen but also mentioned the PermaNet. Inspired to help, Kelly, Kellie, and their friend Cameron Ehrlich immediately began the process of researching the products and setting up a correspondence with Vestergaard Frandsen. Within the next few months, Student Initiative for Africa was formed and the three students met with the President of Discover the World Organization in the U.S. and formed a partnership that enabled them to distribute Vestergaard Frandsen's products in Nairobi, Kenya. |
