Life Straw
LifeStraw is a portable water filter which is 31 centimeters long and which filters bacteria out of contaminated water using no power other than the human power of sucking. Invented by the Danish company Vestergaard Frandsen, the LifeStraw was developed to offer easy and immediate access to clean drinking water. LifeStraw purifies a minimum of 700 litres of water, approximately the amount of water needed for one person to survive and be healthy for one year. LifeStraw is proven to kill 99.999% of waterborne diseases, 98.7% of waterborne viruses and is proven to remove particles down to 15 microns.
In conclusion, LifeStraw actively reduces such major diseases as cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and diarrhea, saving countless lives.

PermaNet
PermaNet is a long lasting insecticidal polyester bed net, or mosquito net. Also created by Vestergaard Frandsen, PermaNet was developed as a response to the severe problems, both economic and health related, presented by malaria. PermaNet 2.0, the second generation PermaNet, differs from traditional mosquito nets in the way it retains high insecticide levels after 20 washes. PermaNet employs the technology of controlled release and traces of insecticide can still be found after thirty washes, while traditionally treated deltamethrin mosquito nets lose traces of mosquito repellent after ten washes!
In conclusion, PermaNet 2.0 is the longest lasting mosquito net on the market and, if supplied to those in need, would reduce malaria infection immensely.
